Recent noted works by some of our esteemed faculty include: open book

Steven Patterson, Ph.D., associate professor of philosophy and division chair of Letters, is a member of the editorial board of a new book series, Windsor Studies in Argumentation (WSIA). WSIA publishes books and monographs exploring argumentation theory broadly construed (incorporating, in particular, informal logic, rhetoric and dialectics). It operates as an open access series, providing 24/7 access to all books in the series around the world. The first volume in the series, What do We Know about the World? Rhetorical and Argumentative Perspectives, a collection of essays edited by Gabrijela Kišiček and Igor Ž. Žagar, has recently been published. WSIA is a venture in electronic publishing through the Centre for Research on Reasoning, Argumentation and Rhetoric at the University of Windsor (CRRAR)

Frank Rashid, Ph.D., professor of English, made three presentations recently: (1) “The Detroit Context: A Conversation," with Stephen Henderson of the Detroit Free Press and American Black Journal, presented for the Kellogg Foundation Board of Directors at the Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation on October 15. (2) “Out of Paradise Valley: The Poetry and Friendship of Robert Hayden and Dudley Randall," with Melba Joyce Boyd at the Hayden-Randall Centennial Project, in the Defining Detroit series at Marygrove College, on October 10. (3) “̒Hidden Right Out in the Open:’ Sex and the City in Robert Hayden’s Poems and Worksheets,” presented at the ASAP/5 (Association for the Study of the Arts of the Present) Conference at Wayne State University, on October 3.

Leslie Love, MFA, director of the Marygrove Theatre and adjunct instructor of performing arts, published a poem, “7 Mile, Detroit,” in the special 40th anniversary Phoenix edition of Eclipse, an arts and literary journal published by Siena Heights University.

Excellence abounds at Marygrove!
